Italy 2013/14 - grants and loans
Public grants are allocated on the basis of both economic need and academic merit. The amount depends on whether the student lives with her/his parents and is defined, within the range mentioned in the diagram above, by the Regional authorities. For instance, the amounts for need-based grants range from EUR 1 904 (students living with parents) to EUR 5 052/year (students not living with parents). No loans or family allowances.

The Ministry sets the minimum and maximum amount of the grant for each new academic
year. Currently the ministerial decree for 2015-2016 has not yet been issued. For 2014/15, the minimum amount of the grant was EUR 1 925.37 and the maximum amount of the grant was EUR 5 108.14.

The amount depends on whether the student lives with her/his parents and is defined, within the range mentioned in the diagram above, by the regional authorities. The ministry sets the minimum and maximum amount of the grant for each new academic year. For 2016/17, the minimum amount of the grant is EUR 1929.22 and the maximum amount of the grant is EUR 5 118.36. No loans or family allowances.
