Iceland 2023/24 - grants and loans![]() | There are no public grants for students in Iceland – direct support is given only as student loans. The only grant-like support is an extra amount for students with children who take a student loan (see family allowances). | Student loans are the main form of public support in Iceland. You can get one if you are an Icelandic citizen, a refugee or a holder of a permanent residence permit. EEA/EFTA citizens and their family members with permanent residence can also qualify if they work in Iceland at least 40 hours a month while studying, as can foreign citizens who have been married to or in a registered partnership with an Icelandic citizen for about two years and have lived legally in Iceland for at least two of the five years before starting studies. The source does not give loan amounts or repayment rules for 2023/24. |
