National student fee
In Türkiye full-time home students do not pay tuition fees at any level of study. In the first cycle and in short-cycle programmes they may pay administrative fees, which vary from university to university. Part-time programmes are not available.
If you take longer than planned, you normally pay nothing extra – except in foreign-language programmes and certain disciplines, for example the Faculty of Aviation and Astronautics, the Pilotage and Air Traffic Control Department and the Conservatory Department. According to Eurydice data for 2023/24, this extended-study fee reached about EUR 122 a year in the first cycle and EUR 53 in the second cycle.
International students pay fees set by each university, which must be at least twice the cost calculated for the programme. Some are exempt – for example students from Syria and Palestine.Student grants
Need- and merit-based grants are available to home and international students, both full-time and part-time. The age limit is 30 for undergraduate students and 35 for graduate students. Eurydice figures cover grants from the main public institution responsible for higher education grants: in 2023/24 the most common need-based and merit-based grant was about EUR 815 a year. Many other public institutions also give grants, but there is no data on them. A grant cannot be combined with a state loan.Loans
Publicly subsidised loans are available to full-time home students only, up to the age of 30 for undergraduates and 35 for graduate students. A loan cannot be combined with a grant. The source does not give loan amounts, repayment terms or the share of borrowers for 2023/24.Tax benefit for student's parents
There are no tax benefits for students' parents.Family allowances
Parents of students do not receive family allowances. International students, however, get other support: health insurance, a language preparation class, accommodation and a one-off reimbursement of travel costs.
