Student grants

Home students, both full-time and part-time, receive a universal grant, and students with children can get an extra need-based amount on top of it. Part-time students get half of the full-time amount. Grants are paid weekly and are available up to the age of 60. Citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland are generally not eligible, though there are exceptions.

In 2023/24 the universal grant was EUR 3,328 for a 40-week academic year, and the need-based amount for students with children ranged from EUR 3,986 to EUR 5,063.

Loans

Home full-time and part-time students can take a publicly subsidised student loan. Loans are paid out weekly and are available up to the age of 60, and some international students can get them under specific conditions. Eurydice gives no loan amounts or repayment details for 2023/24.
