Student grants

Cyprus has need-based and merit-based grants, but only for home students (full-time and part-time); international students are not eligible. Grants are paid monthly over 12 months and there is no age limit.

Grants are calculated per ECTS credit and apply to courses with physical attendance; the lowest amount for one course is EUR 145. In 2023/24 need-based grants ranged from EUR 1,450 to EUR 3,420 a year, with EUR 1,450 being the most common.

Need-based grants are very common: in 2023/24, 89% of first-cycle students and 11% of second-cycle students received one.
