National student fee
In Slovakia each public university decides on its own fees. Students with standard progress pay only small fees, such as admission costs and the student ID card, which apply to first-year students; in 2023/24 these ranged from EUR 5 to EUR 105 a year, with EUR 14 as the most common amount. Tuition can be charged in both cycles to part-time students, students who exceed the standard length of study, students enrolled in two or more programmes at once and students in programmes taught in a foreign language, which cost significantly more than programmes in Slovak or a national minority language.
In 2023/24 the maximum annual tuition was EUR 2,725 for full-time study, EUR 5,970 for part-time first-cycle study and EUR 8,830 for part-time second-cycle study. The rector can reduce, waive or postpone fees, taking into account your academic results, social or health situation or other special circumstances.
