National student fee
In Serbia all students pay something, but how much depends on whether you have a state-funded (budget) place. Students on state-subsidised places do not pay tuition, only administrative costs. Self-financing students pay tuition, which varies by field of study and type of programme. There is no part-time student status, and in short-cycle programmes all students pay all fees.
According to Eurydice data for 2023/24, annual fees for home students ranged from EUR 0 up to EUR 2,559 in the first cycle and up to EUR 5,117 in the second cycle. The maximum is what self-financing students pay for 60 ECTS at certain faculties.
You can move to a budget place: if you earn 48 ECTS in a year, you may be financed from the state budget the following year (36 ECTS for students with disabilities and those admitted through affirmative action). Waivers and reductions depend on socio-economic or academic criteria. International students and students in foreign-language programmes usually pay more. An exception is the World in Serbia scholarship programme for citizens of Non-Aligned Movement member and observer states, which offers free studies, accommodation, food, health insurance and a scholarship of RSD 18,000 a month.
