National student fee
Officially, all students in Croatia pay fees, but in practice only some full-time home students do. In 2023/24 about 35% of full-time home students in the first cycle (including integrated 5-6 year programmes) paid fees, and 29% in the second cycle. All part-time students pay.
For full-time students, the standard fees in 2023/24 were low: between EUR 30 and EUR 100 a year in the first cycle and between EUR 30 and EUR 200 a year in the second cycle. Students who study longer than planned pay much more, up to EUR 1,300 (first cycle) and EUR 2,000 (second cycle).
Fees are also higher for part-time and international students, for students on places not subsidised by the state, for programmes taught in a foreign language and for second degrees. Disciplines such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, architecture, art and engineering traditionally cost more.
Waivers and reductions are available on social grounds and for good academic results. A small share of international students do not pay fees.
